Feasibility study performed to assess the preliminary engineering scope for the installation of a temporary pig launcher for the in-line inspection of the Clyde-Fulmar Pl297 gas export pipeline.
Scope & Deliverables
Initial survey of the location, design of pig launcher body and tie-in to the existing pipeline. Deliverables included a detailed 3D CAD model showing the launcher in place overlaid with laser scan data and preliminary destruct and construct P&IDs, destruct isometrics and a perspective GA.
Highly congested area with limited access for installation of launcher. Unique design required for launcher connection to existing pipeline. A “freestyle” scanner was used to capture the plant data. Concept design presented using Autodesk Navisworks.
Proof of concept design completed in 1-week (conventionally 4-8 weeks). Drawings produced using CAD overlay reducing draughting time. Accelerated long lead procurement and reduced project schedule by over 2 months.
